It is ...to = C'est...de


It is difficult to say no.

-> C'est difficile de dire non.


But we can also say : Il est difficile de dire non. "C'est" and "Il est" are same expressions in cases where you don't know who is the subject. In "it is difficult to say no", it does not refer to anyone. In french, it is the same :-)


It is nice to be here again.

C'est bon d' être ici à nouveau.

Here, "de" becomes "d' ".

It is because you have a voyel after "de". Or it would be : "C'est bon de être ici à nouveau."

But this is not the right way to write it, nor to pronounce it.


So, "de" becomes "d' " after a voyel.



To feel the natural, try to pronunce it loudly : "de être" Vs "d'être".

The second is best right? ;-)
