Be used to Vs Get used to

Be used to = avoir l'habitude de + verbe à l'infinitif


She is used to go there once a week.

-> Elle a l'habitude d'aller là-bas une fois par semaine.



Get used to = "prendre l'habitude de"/ " s'habituer à "/ "s'attacher à " / "prendre goût à"


He got used to his new job.

-> Il s'est habitué à son nouveau métier.


I am afraid to get used to them someday.

-> J'ai peur de m'y attacher un jour.

-> J'ai peur d'y prendre goût un jour

here just like in a previous post "Some Grammar 1", the particule "y" is used to replace some information we don't want to repeat.

Here, "y" replace "à eux" = "to them" : J'ai peur de m'attacher à eux.

But it is much better saying "m'y attacher"


"prendre goût à quelque chose " = "getting used to but also almost "getting addicted to".
So a strong feeling right?
